David Raum’s future at RB Leipzig remains up in the air, with the club captain’s current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

According to Sky Germany, Leipzig would like to keep the 28-year-old and are planning to open talks with him over a potential contract extension in the coming weeks.

However, the left-back’s salary could prove to be a sticking point. Raum is reportedly currently Leipzig’s second-highest earner, behind only Lukas Klostermann, and would have to adjust his demands to fit the club’s new salary structure.

Whether the two parties will be able to reach an agreement remains unclear, with the likes of Barcelona and Juventus recently linked with the Germany international.

Raum joined Die Roten Bullen from TSG Hoffenheim for a reported €26 million fee in 2022.
