Bayer Leverkusen narrowed the gap on Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table to three points with a 3-1 win over Bochum at BayArena on Friday evening.

Aleix Garcia opened the scoring for the Werkself with a rocket from outside the area in the 20th minute.

But Bochum hit back six minutes later when Felix Passlack hit a looping volley into the far corner of the net.

Victor Boniface, who made a rare start up front alongside Patrik Schick, put Bayer 04 back in front on the hour mark after being set up by Piero Hincapie before substitute Amine Adli made it 3-1 late on to cement the win for Xabi Alonso's team.

The result leaves Bayer Leverkusen three points behind leaders Bayern Munich, who host FC St. Pauli on Saturday.

Bochum, meanwhile, are 16th, one point above Heidenheim and three points clear of bottom side Holstein Kiel.
