The French defender returned to the starting XI for the clash against Union Berlin after being limited to the bench in the previous two matches. However, his comeback was cut short in the 68th minute after he picked up a knock and was forced off.

Subsequent MRI scans have confirmed a muscle injury in his right thigh, ruling Badé out for at least the next few weeks. The timing is far from ideal for Kasper Hjulmand’s side, who are navigating a demanding fixture schedule while competing on three fronts - the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal.

With rotation crucial during this congested period, Badé’s absence could present an opportunity for Tim Oermann. The 22-year-old is still awaiting his Leverkusen debut following his return from a loan spell at Sturm Graz in Austria and may now be called upon to provide defensive cover.
