Bayer Leverkusen are reportedly close to completing the signing of 18-year-old Cameroonian striker Christian Kofane from Spanish second division side Albacete.

According to Bild, Kofane was in Leverkusen on Saturday to undergo a medical ahead of the move.

He is expected to sign a contract with Die Werkself that runs until 2030. The plan is for him to serve as a backup to Patrik Schick, while Victor Boniface could leave if a suitable offer arrives.

Leverkusen are believed to have triggered a €5 million release clause in Kofane’s contract.

The forward made a name for himself in the second half of last season, scoring eight goals in Spain’s second division.
