Fortuna Düsseldorf set to beat Schalke for Marin Ljubicic signing
The two 2. Bundesliga clubs competed for the signing of the Union Berlin striker.

Fortuna Düsseldorf are set to sign Marin Ljubicic from Union Berlin on a dry loan. The relegation-threatened 2. Bundesliga side beat promotion hopefuls Schalke to add the 23-year-old striker to their ranks.
According to Sky, the medical check is scheduled for Friday as Fortuna hope to have him for Sunday’s game against Paderborn. Sven Mislintat already completed the transfers of Satoshi Tanaka and Jordi Paulina since being appointed as Sporting CEO last month.
After no appearances in the first half of the season, Ljubicic has only featured twice for Union Berlin this season, but he scored late equalizers on both occasions against Mainz and Augsburg. The Bundesliga club are only interested in loan offers with no option to buy.
