Manuel Neuer is set to make his 23rd World Cup start when Germany face Paraguay in Monday’s round of 32 clash.

In doing so, the 40-year-old will set a new national record for World Cup starts, moving clear of both Lothar Matthäus and Miroslav Klose, who are tied on 22.

It will also be Neuer’s 129th cap for Germany, leaving him fifth on the country’s all-time appearance list.

He remains behind Lukas Podolski (130), Thomas Müller (131), Miroslav Klose (137) and Lothar Matthäus (150).
