Nagelsmann confirms plan to take four goalkeepers to Euros and leave out one outfield player

After announcing his 27-man preliminary squad for the European Championship, Julian Nagelsmann revealed that he intends to stick with the four goalkeepers he named and leave one of the outfield players out of his final squad.

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has confirmed that he will take four goalkeepers to the European Championship.

That means Manuel Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen, Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel are all certain to make the final 26-man squad for the tournament, barring injury.

"We will go into the European Championship with four goalkeepers," confirmed Nagelsmann at the official squad presentation, explaining that this will allow Manuel Neuer and Marc-André ter Stegen to better control their workload in training.

It also means that Nagelsmann will later leave out an outfield player in order to reduce the squad to 26 players.

“I'm not a fan of big squads. It gives us a bit of a buffer and we can still train properly,” he said.
