Nagelsmann extends contract as Germany coach

Julian Nagelsmann has extended his contract as Germany coach until 2026.

The German Football Association has announced that Julian Nagelsmann has extended his contract as Germany coach from 2024 to 2026.

This puts an end to speculation linking Nagelsmann with the job as Bayern Munich coach.

“This is a decision of the heart. It is a great honor to coach the national team and work with the best players in the country. With successful, passionate performances, we have the chance to inspire a whole country,” said Nagelsmann.

“The two wins against France and the Netherlands in March gave us a taste of that. I was touched by the enthusiasm of the fans. Now we want to play a successful European Championship at home, that's what we all want. After that, I'm looking forward to the challenge of the World Cup together with my coaching team.”

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said:

"It is a strong signal for the DFB and the national team that Julian Nagelsmann will remain national coach beyond the European Championship.

“He is on the wish list of many big clubs across Europe. But the national team is more than just a job for Julian Nagelsmann, it is a matter close to his heart. Now there is planning security and everyone can fully concentrate on a successful performance at the European Championship.”
