Noel Futkeu's 17th goal of the season wasn't enough for Greuther Fürth to beat derby rivals Nürnberg on Sunday. The hosts will stay in 17th place, although they are now level on points with both Fortuna Düsseldorf and Eintracht Braunschweig.
Nürnberg are back to ninth place as they sit a point above Holstein Kiel. Peruvian defender Fabio Gruber scored his first goal of the season in the first-half injury-time as both Bavarian derbies ended in draws this season.
Futkeu is now level with Magdeburg's Mateusz Żukowski in the scoring charts. The strikers of teams battling relegation found the net more than anyone else in the unpredictable league.
The 23-year-old will hope to keep Fürth in 2. Bundesliga before leaving them to rejoin Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. Heiko Vogel’s side will face Hertha BSC and Fortuna Düsseldorf in the last couple of weeks of the season. Miroslav Klose's side are already safe as they're set to play another campaign in 2. Bundesliga.
