Karlsruhe will stay in 2. Bundesliga after their 2-1 win over Darmstadt on Sunday afternoon. The visitors will also play next season in this division after a fourth defeat in five games ended their already damaged promotion hopes.

Marvin Wanitzek produced a superb second-half performance as he reached 15 goals for the very first time in his career. Isac Lidberg equalized for Darmstadt with his 30th 2. Bundesliga strike in two seasons before Karlsruhe took all three points with a goal four minutes before time.

Gladbach loanee Shio Fukuda was the matchwinner with his fourth 2. Bundesliga goal. Karlsruhe now have a chance to finish in the top six, while Florian Kohfeldt's side seek to halt their seven-game winless streak before the end of the season.
