Hüters starting XI nevertheless included plenty of youth. Luca Netz (18) Manu Kouadio Koné (20), Joe Scally (18), and Louis Jordan Beyer (21) all started. Hütter made it clear that he felt all of them did an excellent job.

"It was an intense and exciting game that had everything in it that a football lover desires," the coach noted, "For me, the fact that Scally made it 3-1 was emblematic [of the trust placed in the youngsters]."

Hütter naturally had plenty of praise left for someone a bit older. Scally may have put the game to bed with his first ever Bundesliga goal, but 24-year-old Swiss international Breel Embolo literally kick-started the match with an incredible bicycle finish in the 5th.

"For me, he's the player of the match," Hütter emphasized, "He scored a goal, added an assist, and drew a penalty. He was the dominant personality on the pitch."
