RB Leipzig youngster admits he misses Ajax

Brian Brobbey has expressed how much he misses his former club Ajax.
RB Leipzig youngster Brian Brobbey has admitted that he misses his former club Ajax.

"I had a great time at Ajax, a really great time, together with my friends Ryan Gravenberch and Kenneth Taylor. I miss those times. Definitely," Brobbey told De Telegraaf.

"We were taken to the club by van, trained and had fun. Then at the weekend we played. That was the highlight of the week. You always knew you were going to play, too. That was nice."

Brobbey turned down a contract extension with Ajax to join RB Leipzig ahead of this season.

However, things haven't gone according to plan in Germany for the young forward, who is yet to make his competitive debut for Leipzig, with André Silva and Yussuf Poulsen ahead of him in the pecking order.

"At Ajax, I had one striker in front of me, in Leipzig it's two," said Brobbey.

"Sometimes I think I just have to go through this experience. I don't really want to, but if that's the way it has to be, then that's the way it has to be.

"The coach says that my time will come and that I have to keep believing in myself. We will see. What I will do if nothing changes? Then I will talk to my agent (Mino Raiola, editor's note). It's as simple as that. Either way, I will continue to train hard."

Brobbey, who recently suffered an injury while playing for the Dutch U21 national team, is under contract with Leipzig until 2025.
