World Cup winner Joachim Löw, who stepped back as Germany coach following Euro 2020 after 15 years in charge, was honored before the game.
His successor, Hansi Flick, had a depleted squad to pick from following a spate of injuries as well as Niklas Süle's positive COVID-19 test, which resulted in four other players being quarantined.
Still, Liechtenstein were no match for Hansi Flick's troops, and the away side certainly didn't make things any easier for themselves when Jens Hofer was shown a straight red card in the 9th minute after committing a penalty, which led to Ilkay Gündogan' opener.
Germany went 2-0 up when Daniel Kaufmann scored an own goal in the 20th minute before Leroy Sané and Marco Reus added to the lead with two quick goals, making it 4-0 after just 23 minutes.
Sané added another one in the beginning of the second half, with Thomas Müller (two goals), Ridle Baku and an own goal from Max Göppel taking the scoreline to 9-0.
Having already sealed their qualification to the World Cup, Germany sit top of Group J, nine points clear of second-placed North Macedonia.
