Dorsch not satisfied with comeback attempt: "A super second half does nothing for me."

It just didn't come together for Marcus Weinzierl's Fuggerstädter on Saturday.

Passing errors, atrocious set-piece defending, and some hard luck left the hosting Bavarian Swabians without much of a chance when they headed into the locker room down 0-3 at the half.

German U21 international Niklas Dorsch, who took a chance in coming back to the Bundesliga this year, talked himself into a rage during his post-match interview.

Niklas Dorsch turned down interest from several other clubs this offseason to join a club he felt proved the best fit for him. After a slow start for both player and team this season, things seemed to be coming together. Dorsch found himself consistently paired with Germany U21 teammate Arne Maier in midfield.

The Fuggerstädter seemed to be gaining some momentum after big wins over Stuttgart and Bayern as well as a confidence boosting draw away at Hertha last week. Unfortunately, in their first home match back since the Bayern upset, the team completely fell apart in the final five minutes of the opening 45, conceded two goals off of set pieces.

"Insolence," Dorsch said afterwards when commenting on the two goals conceded late in the first half, "Too little going on [on set-pieces]. As you saw, we defended very poorly."

Dorsch had to play the second half without colleague and friend Maier, whom head-coach Marcus Weinzierl yanked after a misplaced place led to Bochum's first goal. The team finally woke up and did gear up to press for a late match comeback late-on. Play after the 70th could be described as superb.

"We played such a shitty first half," Dorsch remarked afterwards, "A super second half does nothing for me. It doesn't count for shit if you go down 0-3. Then it's a very difficult game to win. That's just not good enough."

Augsburg's loss to Bochum ensures that the FCA will remain on the playoff relegation spot after the round concludes. Meanwhile, the victories 1848ers pull themselves effectively out of the relegation race for the time being. Three points takes the NRW club all the way up to 10th place.
