Weinzierl praises Mads Pedersen after performance: "I'm not surprised it worked."

"I actually wanted to sub him off shortly before that," FCA head-coach Markus Weinzierl noted at a presser, "But we decided to let him play a few more minutes. Then he shot the ball into the top corner."
Pedersen started the match on the left-wing, just ahead of buccaneering Brazilian fullback Iago. Coincidentally, the last time those two started together on the same side was the match in which Weinzierl's Fuggerstädter upset defending champions FC Bayern München in the 12th round.
Pedersen also scored in that match.
"We know that ewe have two good players that side with Iago and Mads," Weinzierl mused, "I'm not surprised that the left-side worked so well with Mads Pedersen in the attacking role."
The performance of the duo certainly constitutes food-for-thought for the FCA trainer as he prepares for another match on a tight turnaround. The 14th-placed club still have a game in hand after a 26th round encounter with Mainz was postponed for COVID-related reasons.
Augsburg host the Nullfünfter on Wednesday night. A win could see the Bavarian Swabians pull themselves up to 13th place on 32 points.
