After beginning the season with two points from their opening three games, Frankfurt looked to have found their stride in recent times. Three of their previous four league matches have resulted in victory, including their most recent fixture against Stuttgart before the international break.

Sebastian Rode, Daichi Kamada and Kristijan Jakić all found the net in the 3-1 victory over Pellegrino Matarrazo's side. As a result of the win, Frankfurt will return to Bundesliga action in seventh place with only two points separating them from the top four.

Although they have lost one of their last six league games, Die Adler face a tough test this weekend when they face the current league leaders. The hosts can at least take inspiration from the fact they have won their previous two home meetings with Union.

However, Frankfurt have struggled at home this term, winning only one of their five home games in all competitions. Despite struggling on home turf, Frankfurt will hope they can take confidence from their recent overall form as they attempt to claim three important points before they turn their attention to a Champions League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur.

The hosts are expected to be without the services of Jerome Onguene and Almamy Toure due to groin and hamstring injuries respectively.

Union Berlin

As the only side yet to lose a Bundesliga game this season, Union have surprised many to take their position at the top of the table.

While they have lost their opening two group games in the Europa League, Union have fared much better in the Bundesliga. Five of their seven league games have resulted in victory, while have also drawn against Mainz 05 and defending champions Bayern Munich.

Before the international break, Urs Fischer's side claimed consecutive victories after goals from Jordan and Sheraldo Becker helped them beat a struggling Wolfsburg side 2-0.

Following two weeks without a Bundesliga game, Union will hope to pick up where they left off when they face Frankfurt on Saturday. As the league's highest scorers they will believe they have the firepower to claim all three points, while they also boast the best defensive record in the top-flight this season. Their defence will need to be at their very best if they have to negate the threat of the visitors who have scored seven goals in their last two away games.

Although Frankfurt have a number of quality players in their squad, an in-form Union side will be confident that they can extend their unbeaten Bundesliga run to 15 games.
