Bayern Munich vs. Werder Bremen preview: Can Werder shock the record champions?

After a strange start to league play, Bayern haven't lost in their last 11 competitive matches and are looking to extend their run against the high-flyers from Bremen on Tuesday.

Bayern Munich

Bundesliga supporters can't stop talking about Eric Choupo-Moting. And for the good reason too. The striker scored yet again (twice) in Bayern's win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Jamal Musiala has also been world-class on the offensive end, as the league leaders have easily scored the most goals in league play with 41 thus far. In the midfield, Leon Goretzka seems to have slightly overtaken Marcel Sabitzer as Joshua Kimmich's starting partner in recent weeks.

Manuel Neuer, Leroy Sane and Lucas Hernandez returned to the pitch on Matchday 13 and are all starting lineup options for Julian Nagelsmann. In defense, Benjamin Pavard will likely start again in the center with Matthijs de Ligt out injured.

Nagelsmann said, "If we manage to pick up six points before the World Cup, then we will remain in top spot. We believe in ourselves. - Bremen have a good coach and a clear plan of how they want to play, both in attack and defense."

Dayot Upamecano has a knock, but he'll be a squad option. De Ligt, Alphonso Davies, Josip Stanisic, Bouna Sarr and Thomas Müller are unavailable.

Werder Bremen

Many pegged Werder as a likely relegation candidate before the season began, but the newly-promoted side have bursted of the gate with their excellent form.

They took care of business against Schalke over the weekend and sit an incredible 7th in the table. Mitchell Weiser has revitalized his career on the right side, while the rest of the defense is stable.

Marvin Ducksch and Niclas Füllkrug, who is ruled out, have been a nearly unstoppable pairing in attack. Werder have not beaten Bayern since 2008 in the most-played fixture in the Bundesliga first division.

Ole Werner stated, "Bayern is the toughest away game on paper. You need to do your homework and be at your best. - It doesn't make any sense to think about the result before the game itself. We are concentrating on the things that we can influence."

It's been confirmed that Füllkrug won't play against Bayern with a back injury, but he could return against Leipzig on the weekend. Lee Buchanan is questionable, while Duda, Felix Agu and Jean-Manuel Mbom will not travel to Bavaria.
