Fears expressed by some Bundesliga watchers that Köln's Mark Uth may be struggling with career-threatening injury issues aren't exactly fully confirmed yet. Geißböcke trainer Steffen Baumgart has nevertheless confided to the Kölner Stadt-Anzeige that the 31-year-old's present diagnosis isn't something that one can guarantee will get better.

After undergoing surgery for his public bone issues just prior to the season, the hometown hero had to cut his comeback short earlier this month after renewed issues with the injury left him in too much pain to play. In his recent interview, Baumgart noted that the Kölner medical staff "could not find a way to stem the pain."

"With Mark, we don't give any forecasts," Baumgart told the paper, "With a fracture, I know what will happen. But with Mark's injury, we don't know what will happen and to what extent it will get better or not."

Baumgart naturally expressed the hope that his most reliable buttressing attacker could return in time for Köln's preparation camp at the beginning of January, but such hopes obviously rest with the medical staff's ability to come up with a more precise diagnosis.
