Glasner and Krösche pessimistic about Europe, Muani may remain out for Pokal

With qualification for Europe via the table slipping out of their reach, Eintracht Frankfurt trainer Oliver Glasner and club sporting director Markus Krösche took time to lament their team's recent form in their post match interviews.

Eintracht's hopes for European football now rest on the DFB Pokal. SGE trainer Glasner had some bad news to report on that front. Lead-striker Randal Kolo Muani may not be available for Wednesday's semi-final encounter.

Another draw on Saturday now extends Eintracht Frankfurt's winless run in the league to nine straight games. Oliver Glasner's German Eagles last picked up three Bundesliga points on matchday 21 against SV Werder Bremen. As they have so many times in recent weeks, Glasner and SGE sporting director Markus Krösche had harsh words for the team's collective performance.

"If you see the performance today, you have to say that it was just incomprehensible," Krösche told Sky Germany afterwards, "We have to win the game today with all our might. We didn't do that. It was a bad game."

Keeper Kevin Trapp and captain Sebastian Rode - while also noting some positive aspects - essentially agreed with the manager's sentiments. Both players used the phrase "bad game" to sum up how they felt about the overall effort. Recent comments from Glasner about "the team not deserving Europe" were affirmed.

Rode sought to drum up some enthusiasm for Wednesday's Pokal semi-final encounter with VfB Stuttgart. Even if European qualification via the table now seems out of reach, the Hessians can still secure a UEL spot by winning the country's domestic cup.

It nevertheless looks as if a very serious problem developing in that area. Talismanic lead-striker Randal Kolo Muani couldn't play on Saturday due to adductor issues. Glasner briefly commented on the Frenchman's prospects of playing on Wednesday during his interview.

"I'm afraid that the problems will last until that," Glasner said.
