Brentford and Freiburg make €25 million Schade deal official

Germany's SC Freiburg and England's Brentford F.C. officially confirmed the permanent transfer of SCF attacker Kevin Schade to London on Monday afternoon.

While his permanent move to London was never really in any doubt, German international Kevin Schade's switch to Brentford F.C. was on a new five-year-deal was officially confirmed on Monday afternoon. The 21-year-old Potsdam native was technically on loan in West London since this past January. An automatic purchase clause reportedly set to trigger easily was included in the loan contract.

In a write-up on the deal appearing on the website of Germany's Kicker Magazine, German footballing journalist Frederik Paulus reports that Schade's German parent club receives €24 million on the deal. An additional €1 million has already flowed into the Breisgau coffers in the form of a loan fee.

"We are pleased with Kevin's performances so far," Brentford's sporting director Phil Giles noted in a statement released on the club website, "Therefore, it is fantastic for the club to have him with us now until 2028. We all hope that both Kevin and Brentford will continue to progress from here on and we look forward to the challenge."

Freiburg themselves released a statement wishing the now twice-capped German international well. Schade's transfer is the most expensive purchase in Brentford's footballing history. Freiburg too have set a new record for their largest ever sale. Factoring in the sale of SCF keeper Mark Flekken (a reported €13 million), the German club have now pocketed €38 million from the "Bees" in the last two weeks.
