Frankfurt to net hefty sum for back-up keeper?
German and Dutch footballing media sources are currently reporting that Eintracht Frankfurt and Ajax Amsterdam are set to conclude perhaps the summer's most surprising transfer.
Former VfB Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat is reportedly so convinced of the abilities of Eintracht Frankfurt back-up keeper Diant Ramaj that he's willing to spend a hefty sum to bring the 21-year-old to Ajax. The Stuttgart-native has just two Bundesliga appearances to his credit, but journalists Christopher Michel and Maximilian Schwoch of German broadcaster Sport1 reporting that a base-transfer-fee of some €8 million (plus another €4 million in bonuses) is on the table.
Holland's "De Teelegraaf" newspaper offers no confirmation of the future, but does state that the former VfB Stuttgart and Stuttgarter Kickers academy man has agreed to personal terms with the Amsterdam-based club. Germany's Kicker Magazine posits the more plausible solution that a loan is currently being discussed. Ramaj - who ostensibly enters the 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign as Eintracht's #2 behind Kevin Trapp - maintains an estimated market worth of only €750,000 in the latest transfermarkt listings.
Eintracht's current active roster of 40 professionals is considered far too large for a top-flight German team. The SGE payroll does already feature four keepers, meaning that the club will surely wish to move Ramaj before the season starts. The outgoing transfer of midfielder Djibril Sow is expected to be confirmed today. Rumors continue to suggest that attackers Jesper Lindstrøm, Rafael Santos Borré, and Randal Kolo Muani might also be on the way out.
