It genuinely looked as if Marco Rose's RB Leipzig were in for another disappointing result on Saturday afternoon when they fell behind early against VfL Bochum at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion on the Castroper Straße. An early set-piece goal from Maximilian Wittek in the 7th put the German Red Bulls down 0-1. Luck truly not to be on the side of the visiting Saxons when Xavi Simons' supposed equalizer was disallowed for offside ten minutes later.

Leipzig fought back and we eventually able to attain the 1-1 via an excellent strike from Dani Olmo. The match nevertheless remained deadlocked as the 70th minute mark approached. It was then that Rose's team suddenly decided to wake up, scoring three goals in the span of four minutes and 41 seconds. Struggling German left-back David Raum didn't get his name on the scoresheet on this day, but was nevertheless very proud of his team.

"It shows you what quality we have," the 25-year-old remarked gleefully when speaking to the Sky microphones, "We'll be flying to Madrid feeling looser on a tailwind. That's how you win nasty away games and that's also how you can win in Madrid."

Leipzig travel to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their Champions's League Round-of-16 tie against the Spanish giants. The German UCL representatives remain behind on aggregate after dropping their home fixture 0-1. Raum insisted that today's result left him feeling fearless and expressed eagerness to contest the tough fixture in the 80,000+ capacity venue.

"We've got our backs to the wall, but that works for us," Raum said, "The stadium is amazing. One dreams of matches like this as a kid."
