Stuttgart extend Hoeness' contract

VfB Stuttgart have extended the contract of head coach Sebastian Hoeness until 2027.
Sebastian Hoeness has committed himself to a new contract with VfB Stuttgart, extending his deal as head coach from 2025 to 2027.

Hoeness has been hugely successful since taking over at Stuttgart a year ago, first saving the club from relegation and then leading them to their current third place position in the Bundesliga.

His results have seen him linked with the job as Thomas Tuchel's successor at Bayern, but with the extension of his contract, that no longer appears to be an option.

"I can say without hesitation that the extension of Sebastian Hoeneß' contract is more important for our further sporting development than any other personnel matter at the club at the moment," said Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.

"When he took over just under a year ago, the immediate sporting and financial future of our club was largely unclear. Undaunted, he has given VfB Stuttgart a new sporting perspective from day one, with a clear sporting concept and an enormous sense of what the group and the individuals need."

Hoeness said he's looking forward to continuing his work at what he considers to be a "special club."

"I am delighted to have extended my contract with VfB ahead of time. Together we have managed to put VfB on the right track. Our goal must be to continue on this path in the long term in order to establish VfB in the top half of the table once again," Hoeness said.

From the very beginning, it has been fun to work with this team, the coaching staff and the entire staff, and to experience the fantastic support of our fans. Last but not least, the constructive discussions with Alexander Wehrle, Fabian Wohlgemuth and Christian Gentner made me decide to extend my contract. The exchange between us is characterized by trust and appreciation. My focus is now more than ever on the decisive phase of the current season".
