Eintracht Frankfurt seem to be the most likely destination for the striker at this point. According to various reports from Germany, negotiations between Kruse and 'Die Adler' are underway.
Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter has previously spoken highly of Kruse, whom he believes 'has an unbelievable intelligence on the pitch'.
Meanwhile, Sport1 reported on Monday that Bayern München are interested in signing Kruse as a back-up for Robert Lewandowski. According to the report, the 31-year-old has also attracted interest from Liverpool.
According to Fussball.news, Kruse has already turned down offers from two clubs from England and Spain.
He has previously been linked with Tottenham and Inter, but both clubs have cooled their interest, Bild reported last week.
The 31-year-old, who scored 12 goals and made 14 assists in 36 appearances during the 2018/19 season, has also been linked with a move to AS Roma.
