Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka have formed a great midfield duo for Bayern Munich in the past years. Ever since Goretzka's arrival in Munich in 2018, the duo have won seven Bundesliga titles, two DFB-Pokal wins, three German and one UEFA Supercups, the FIFA Club World Cup and, of course, the UEFA Champions League in 2020 together.

But every era comes to an end - and while Kimmich will stay at Bayern beyond this summer, Goretzka's contract runs out and he will leave the club after eight years.

National team captain Kimmich has commented on the end of Goretzka's Bayern career:

“You can tell he's realising that his time here is slowly coming to an end. It's emotional for everyone, including me. We've been playing together at the club for eight years - that's quite a long time when you consider that you have around 15 years as a professional player.”

There are still some trophies the duo can chase together - with Bayern and the national team in the summer.
