Eintracht Frankfurt captain David Abraham has been heavily criticized after he was shown a red card on Sunday for deliberately running straight into Freiburg coach Christian Streich, thus pushing him to the ground.
The 33-year-old now faces a heavy suspension and is set to be fined by Eintracht Frankfurt, but he will keep the captain's armband.
"David Abraham is and remains our captain," Frankfurt coach Adi Hütter told FFH and added:
"I won't drop someone, just because they have made a mistake."
Abraham has played for Frankfurt since 2015.
