Ralf Rangnick advises Timo Werner to stay at RB Leipzig

Ralf Rangnick says he would be happy if Timo Werner stayed at RB Leipzig.
Former RB Leipzig sporting director and coach Ralf Rangnick has advised Timo Werner to stay at Red Bull Arena.

Werner told Bild on Friday that he would rather move abroad than join Bayern München if he were to take the next step in his career.

But Rangnick, who now serves as head of sport and development at Red Bull, is hoping that the striker will stay put.

"He has developed further, especially in terms of his goal rate, and could make another leap under Julian Nagelsmann and with his teammates. I would be happy if he stayed," Rangnick told Mitteldeutsche Zeitung.

But if Werner should leave Leipzig this summer, the team would be "so well-positioned that he could be replaced," added Rangnick.

"Timo will have to consider whether he would get the opportunity to play as regularly as he does here if he joined another club," the 61-year-old said.
