Leverkusen to stick with Peter Bosz

Bayer Leverkusen boss Rudi Völler dismisses reports linking Peter Bosz with the job as Netherlands coach.
Bayer Leverkusen want to keep Peter Bosz as coach despite a disappointing end to the 2019/20 season, insists club chief Rudi Völler.

Bosz's troops missed out on a Champions League place before crashing out of the Europa League after a 1-2 defeat to Inter at the quarter-finals stage.

Nevertheless, Völler remains satisfied with Bosz, who signed a new deal in January, and plays down speculation that the 56-year-old could take over as Netherlands coach after Ronald Koeman left the position to replace Quique Setién at FC Barcelona.

"It's basically clear that the coach is in demand. That's why extended his contract. But we'll do everything to play a top season with him at the helm," Völler told Kicker.

"We have a clear project, and I know that Peter feels super comfortable here. Even though we didn't achieve our goals in the cup tournaments at the end of the season, we have generally improved," he added.

Bosz's contract with Leverkusen expires in 2022.
