Rangnick rules out Real Madrid move for Werner

Real Madrid has been linked with Timo Werner, but the striker will definitely not join the Spanish capital club this summer according to RB Leipzig head coach and sporting director Ralf Rangnick.
A few days ago, Spanish media outlet Marca reported that Real Madrid are interested in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

However, Werner himself has previously said that he plans to stay at RB Leipzig until 2020 at least, and that is still what RB Leipzig head coach and sporting director Ralf Rangnick expects the German international to do.

"For us, that is not an issue at all. Timo has made it clear to us both internally and in various interviews that he will definitely be playing for us next year. In addition to that, he has said that he wants to play for at least another year under Julian Nagelsmann (RB Leipzig's head coach from 2019)," Rangnick told Sky Germany.

It has also been rumored that Werner is set to sign a new deal with RB Leipzig before the start of the new season, but the negotiations are still ongoing according to Rangnick.

"We are trying to extend his contract early," he said.

According to the club, Werner wasn't in RB Leipzig's squad for today's 3-1 win in the DFB-Pokal against Viktoria Köln because of gastrointestinal problems.
