Wolf and Rose speak on latest Gladbach loss: "We're missing out on the fun and joy of football"

Borussia Mönchengladbach have gone from breaking into February 2021 on an eight-match-trot unbeaten run to going winless in their last seven games on the bounce.

Just as was the case in Tuesday's 0-1 to Dortmund in the Pokal, one error cost the foals the game. Hannes Wolf, who's ball loss to Jonathan Tah led to the game's only goal, spoke to the Sky microphones after the match.

Both Wolf and head-coach Marco Rose couldn't help but draw parallels to the Pokal fixture in their post-match comments.
Starter Hannes Wolf summed up the feeling of dropping another 0-1 in the space of four days when speaking to SkyGermany reporters.

"It was a bit like Tuesday," Wolf reminisced, "we're engaged in forward momentum, then lose the ball, and a fast counter leads to such a stupid goal against."

"We lost 0-1, just like Tuesday," head-coach Rose groused in his own post-match comments, "Just like on Tuesday, it's a game one feels one shouldn't have lost. The guys can lose their composure. The biggest challenge heading into the next match is to keep our composure."

Both Rose and Wolf used the German word "Lockerheit" when speaking to members of the press. The different contexts in which the word was used, however, meant that both actors had very different inherent meanings intended when bringing it up.

Rose clearly meant "composure". For him, the ball losses in midfield clearly stemmed from a lack of focused discipline on the attack build. Wolf used the same word to describe a sense of "looseness" that the team is missing at the moment.

"We're having a hard time loosening up," Wolf told reporters, "We're pretty tense. I think one can see that. We're missing out a bit on the fun and joy of football because we're not getting the results lately."

Even if they had different connotative meanings in their word, Wolf and Rose could surely agree that the foals are not enjoying their football right now.

"One has to keep the faith," Rose noted, "as a trainer, I must exemplify that and lead the way."
