Sport Bild Report: Dortmund prioritize St. Juste as top target

FSV Mainz 05 defender Jeremiah St. Juste has truly had a chance to showcase his skills under Nullfünfter head-coach Bo Svensson over the second half of the season.

Germany's Sport Bild reports that two additional European clubs have joined Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the race to acquire the 24-year-old Dutchman.

All of that may be a moot point as the newspaper also reports that Borussia Dortmund have him in their sights.

Most recently linked with Germany's red company team, Mainzer Jerry St. Juste may be heading for the more glamorous upgrade of Signal Iduna Park and the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League. Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that Borussia Dortmund have targeted him, even suggesting that the  BVB has given the green light to incoming head-coach Marco Rose to pursue his personal transfer list, on which the Dutch international sits atop.

Just yesterday, Sport Bild reported that St. Juste also found himself on the wishlist of FC Brugge and Spartak Moscow. Both clubs were said to be willing to spend the estimated €15 million for the versatile defender. The incredibly pacey Groningen native may be the perfect fit for Dortmund, however, as he can bomb up the flanks as a converted right-back.

It makes perfect sense for the BVB to seek out a true compliment to Raphaël Guerreiro; someone capable of achieving something closer to what Achraf Hakimi did in the 2019/20 campaign. The tabloid reports that Rose has given the go-ahead and contact with the 24-year-old's agent has been initiated.

In principle, Mainz would have no objection to a deal. Even if current sporting CEO Christian Heidel has publicly stated that the club finds itself in no hurry to sell players, Sport Bild notes that St. Juste already gave club officials notice that he would like a transfer last winter.
