Florian Wirtz could hardly believe what had just happened after his brace led Germany to a 2-1 win over the Netherlands in Thursday's UEFA European Under-21 Championship semi-final.

"This is simply an indescribable feeling. It's so nice that I was able to give this to the guys and the whole team. Today I also had a bit of luck in my side, and I took advantage of that," Wirtz told reporters after the game.

The higly-rated 18-year-old grabbed the opener after just 29 seconds, breaking David Rozehnal's record for the fastest goal scored at the U21 Euros.

"The record doesn't interest me that much. Scoring a goal is always nice. But these were my first goals ever for Germany. To score for my country in a game like that, that's just nice," said the Leverkusen midfielder.
