Hertha confirm Matheus Cunha transfer to Atlético Madrid

Matheus Cunha has departed Hertha BSC to join Atlético Madrid.
Hertha BSC have confirmed the sale of Matheus Cunha, who has signed for Atlético Madrid.

"In football, new opportunities for clubs and players come up at short notice," said Hertha managing director for sport Fredi Bobic in a statement.

"It's important that transfers like this make sense for all parties, and that you part on good terms. In this instance, Matheus was looking for a new challenge and has found it at a Champions League club in Spain.

"We would like to thank him for everything he has done for Hertha BSC and wish him all the best for the future both on and off the pitch."

Atlético have paid a reported €30 million to sign the 22-year-old Brazilian forward.

Cunha featured a total of 40 times for Hertha, racking up 13 goals and 10 assists.
