Following the departures of star players such as Florian Wirtz, Granit Xhaka, and Jonathan Tah, Bayer Leverkusen could face another major loss before the transfer window closes, with Piero Hincapié strongly linked with a move to England.

Reports suggest the Ecuadorian defender is keen on a switch to Arsenal, while Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have also been mentioned as suitors.

However, Leverkusen’s sporting managing director, Simon Rolfes, insists no formal offers have been made for the 23-year-old.

“We still haven’t received an official offer from any club, so he is our player. That is the status quo,” Rolfes said, according to Sport.de.

He added that Leverkusen would “obviously like to keep” Hincapié, who only signed a long-term contract last winter.

“He knows that we value him highly and want to continue working with him.”

At the same time, Rolfes hinted there could still be activity on the arrival side before the deadline.

“The transfer window is open until Monday evening, so the probability is high that something else will still happen,” he said.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Bayer Leverkusen are close to signing Argentine midfielder Ezequiel Fernández.
