Paredes, Aaronson, and Dietz earn U.S. Olympic call-ups

VfL Wolfsburg winger Kevin Paredes and SpVgg Greuther Fürth defender Maximilian Dietz have been called up to represent their country in the forthcoming men's Olympic football tournament. The 21-year-old Paredes - who scored three goals in 28 league appearances for Germany's green company team last season - will be departing Wolfsburg camp to link up with Coach Marko Mitrovic U.S. U23s.
Dietz - who made 30 league appearances with Fürth last year - will also be unavailable to his German club team. A third player, Johan Gomez of Eintracht Braunschweig, has made the stand list and might yet partake. Eintracht Frankfurt's Paxten Aaronson - already loaned out to FC Utrecht ahead of the coming season - has also been selected.
The U.S. U23s have qualified for the Olympics for the first time in 16 years. the US boys will kick off the tournament against hosts France, followed by games against New Zealand (July 27, 7 p.m.) and Guinea (July 30, 7 p.m.). Coach Mitrovic has publicly stated that the team's mission is to provide valuable experience to "some of America's brightest young footballing talents".
