Wusiala”, a combination of the names “Wirtz” and “Musiala”, is not going to be the new “Robbery” in Munich - Bayern have missed out on the Wirtz deal and he won't be playing for der Rekordmeister in the forseeable future.

Not getting the Wirtz deal over the line has a big impact on Bayern's transfer strategy going forward: While Bayern were ready to pay €130 million in order to get Wirtz, they will not be spending this amount on other players.

Bayern's general transfer philosophy included not spending over €100 million on a single player - after the transfer of Harry Kane in 2023/24, former Bayern president Uli Hoeneß corrected this philosophy by saying:

“We will only pay a sum like this if we are convinced this player can become the face of the club over the next few years - we can't afford to spend sums like some other teams in Europe do year in year out.”

The €130 million for Wirtz were considered to be “special funds” - new signings will now largely depend on player sales and salary cuts.

This is also the reason for the acceleration in the Jonathan Tah transfer saga: his transfer to Munich wouldn't demand any transfer fee and is therefore even more lucrative to Bayern now.

Bayern are hoping to generate money by selling some of the players they are willing to let go, which include the likes of Goretzka, Gnabry, Coman, Kim, Palhinha and Guerreiro - most of them are on huge wages, too.

The only problem with this plan is that currently none of those players are willing to miss out on their high wages at Bayern - only Kingsley Coman is reportedly scouting the market for a potential new club.

Recent reports have linked Bayern to numerous wingers and forward players to find a possible replacement for missing out on Wirtz; a concrete transfer however, seems to be depending on other players leaving first.
