Sport Bild recently reported that VfB Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß has been identified as a candidate to take over as Real Madrid manager this summer.

Hoeneß himself, however, does not appear to be thinking too much about the speculation.

“This is now the third year in a row that there have been rumours. Of course, the name Real Madrid hadn’t come up before. But honestly, that doesn’t move me that much," Hoeneß said at a press conference on Wednesday, according to Sport Bild.

"I’m focused on the final stretch of the season. Just like every year when these topics came up at the end of the season: the answers were always clear, and I have never allowed any doubts to arise.”

Having won the DFB-Pokal last season, Hoeneß and Stuttgart now have the chance to reach the final again when they face Freiburg in the semi-final on Thursday.

“We are all really fired up,” Hoeneß said ahead of the match, adding that the club “got a taste for it” after lifting the trophy last year.

“Winning titles is the ultimate goal. Being in Berlin was fantastic,” the 43-year-old continued, reflecting on last season’s 4–2 final victory over Arminia Bielefeld.
