Steffen Baumgart has signed a new contract as 1. FC Union Berlin head coach.

Die Eisernen confirmed the contract extension on Wednesday, but didn't reveal the length of the coach's new deal.

“Steffen took over the team during a difficult phase and managed to give it stability and clarity,” said Union’s director of men’s professional football, Horst Heldt.

“The development over the past few months shows that we are on the right track. Every day, we feel how united everyone is here on the pitch and beyond. That's why we are convinced that we will continue along this path together.”

Baumgart, who took over the position as head coach in January 2025, commented:

“For me, it was crucial from the outset that we work together here, with trust and a clear idea of football.

“Union stand for cohesion and a consistent attitude on the pitch, which I greatly appreciate. We have created a stable foundation on which we want to continue to build and be successful.”
