Stöger and Asano reportedly to leave Bochum for free

Kicker reports that Kevin Stöger and Takuma Asano will both leave VfL Bochum this summer.

Despite coming out on top in the Bundesliga relegation/promotion play-off against Fortuna Düsseldorf, VfL Bochum will apparently not be able to hold on to two of their most important players.

According to Kicker, Kevin Stöger and Takuma Asano will both leave the club this summer when their contracts expire.

Where they will go is still unclear. Stöger has been linked with Union Berlin, Borussia Mönchengladbach as well as LASK Linz in his native Austria.

30-year-old Stöger was arguably Bochum's most important player in the 2023/24 season, scoring an impressive eight goals and laying on 13 assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

Asano, who has been a regular starter on the wing for several seasons in a row, scored seven goals and provided one assist in 32 appearances in the 2023/24 campaign.

It's already been confirmed that Patrick Osterhage (Freiburg), Danilo Soares (Nürnberg) and Andreas Luthe (retirement) will leave the club this summer.

In addition, the loan spells of Keven Schlotterbeck, Ivan Ordets and Goncalo Paciencia will expire.
