After missing a large part of the season due to a knee injury, Kai Havertz is finally back to full fitness and has earned his first call-up to the German national team since November 2024.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, the Arsenal attacker reflected on his long injury layoff and his return to Julian Nagelsmann’s squad.

“For me personally, it was obviously a very difficult time. It wasn’t easy,” said Havertz.

“I’m very happy to be back here, to be with the team. I’ve obviously missed the guys and I’ve also missed spending time here, playing for the national team again, singing the anthem. That’s why it is something very special for me to be back after such a long time.”

“It was a rollercoaster for me personally. You notice that you’ve been out for a year. But I feel very, very good and ready to play 90 minutes again in the future.”

Havertz could feature when Germany face Switzerland in a friendly on Friday.
