Why Germany have no yellow card suspension concerns for Ecuador clash

Germany don't have to worry about their players picking up yellow cards in their final World Cup group-stage game against Ecuador – as long as no player is booked twice.

In their first two group-stage games, Germany have used 18 players from their 26-man squad.

Remarkably, none of these players have been booked yet, meaning Germany can face Ecuador in their final group-stage match knowing they are safe from suspension for a single yellow card – with only a second booking triggering a ban.

All yellow cards picked up in the group stage will be wiped heading into the knockout rounds, meaning a German player will only face suspension for the round of 32 if he's sent off against Ecuador.

Germany have already won Group E heading into Thursday's game in East Rutherford.
