Eintracht Braunschweig has relieved coach Heiner Backhaus and assistant coach Julius Schell of their duties with immediate effect.

The decision followed an in-depth analysis of recent games and the team's performance in the second half of the season.

“We have been continuously monitoring and analyzing the team’s development and performance over the past few weeks.

"After numerous discussions – both with the coaching staff and with Heiner personally – we lack the conviction to successfully continue on the chosen path with this personnel setup.

"We did not make this decision based on a single match, but rather due to the team’s recent lack of progress.

"Heiner and Julius dedicated themselves to Eintracht Braunschweig with great passion and commitment, for which we are grateful.

"We wish them both every success in their future endeavors,” explained the club's sporting director Benjamin Kessel.

Backhaus only took over Braunschweig in the summer after leaving Alemannia Aachen and signed a contract until 2027.
