“No, he's staying! There is nothing else on the table. He himself said there is nothing else - and he has a contract until 2026”, said Leverkusen sporting manager Simon Rolfes about the future of Xabi Alonso at Leverkusen.

Alonso, who is heavily linked to become the next coach of Real Madrid, avoided a clear statement about his future in Leverkusen at the press conference before the Bundesliga game against Bochum.

Tension was rising and many started to speculate, whether Alonso was still committed to being the coach of Bayer Leverkusen; that's why Rolfes felt the need to speak about the future of Xabi Alonso after the game against Bochum.

“Xabi is under contract until 2026. We know what he's thinking. He has a contract and he is very happy at the moment. I assume everything will stay how it is right now”, continued Rolfes.

Leverkusen are still very much in the title race in the Bundesliga - and the whole team would love to once again finish above their rivals from Munich. Stability, clarity and committment will only help them in succeeding once again.
