Bayern Munich have been handed a boost in the race for Marc Guéhi after reports suggest FC Barcelona apparently cannot afford him.

Mundo Deportivo reports a meeting between the parties in which it became clear that their financial expectations were too far apart.

Instead, the initiative has been handed to Bayern and Liverpool who are reportedly prepared to offer the center-back a high salary.

Both clubs are looking to strengthen their central defense, with Dayot Upamecano's future still up in the air in Bavaria

Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl even plans to hold further talks with the representatives of the Crystal Palace centre-half soon.

Even if Upamecano extends his contract in Munich, the German record champions could still make a move for the English international.

The fact that Min-Jae Kim remains a potential sale for the German record champions' means they will likely need high quality replacements.
