Currently impressing for the United States at the World Cup, Folarin Balogun has emerged as a transfer target for Borussia Dortmund, according to Bild.

The German tabloid reports that Balogun is seen as a potential replacement for Serhou Guirassy, who could leave Signal Iduna Park this summer.

BVB currently expect Guirassy to stay, but the Guinea international could still be on the move if a top club shows interest, with his release clause reportedly set at €38 million this summer.

Dortmund’s top target remains Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani, who BVB sporting director Ole Book knows well from their time together at Elversberg.

However, RB Leipzig are also said to be interested in the Kosovo international, who has a €30 million release clause and is expected to make a decision soon.

If Guirassy leaves and Dortmund miss out on Asllani, Balogun could come into focus for the German club. The USMNT forward, who has scored three goals at the World Cup, is under contract with AS Monaco until 2028.
