Naby Keita has been out of the Werder Bremen first team since April, when the club claimed the 29-year-old had refused to get on the Werder bus after being told he wouldn't start against Bayer Leverkusen.

Werder attempted to offload him over the summer, but were unsuccessful and Keita remains under contract with the club until the summer of 2026.

But despite still having a year and a half left on his deal, Keita definitely doesn't have a future at the club, chief executive Clemens Fritz emphasized at the club's annual general meeting on Monday night.

"Anyone who doesn't get on the Werder bus with his team-mates will no longer wear a Werder shirt at the Weserstadion," Fritz said, according to Deichstube.

Keita has played just five games for Werder since joining the club from Liverpool in the summer of 2023.
