According to Sky Germany, Loris Karius and Schalke 04 are in advanced talks regarding a new contract for the Bundesliga.

Karius currently has a valid contract until 2027 – however, both the club and the player are pushing for an early extension.

The new deal is expected to run until at least 2028, and part of the negotiations, the goalkeeper's salary is expected to be adjusted.

Should he sign the new contract being discussed, Karius would become one of the highest earners at the Gelsenkirchen side.

The 31-year-old has also made his preference clear – he is prepared to turn down interest from Italy and stay with Schalke in the Bundesliga.

A swift agreement is considered likely – both parties are currently working on the final details of the new deal which should be completed soon.
