As reported by the FAZ, RB Leipzig is showing keen interest in Sergi Altimira from La Liga outfit Real Betis.

Moreover, sporting director Marcel Schäfer is already in advanced negotiations with the 24-year-old's representatives.

Eintracht Frankfurt were also intrigued by the midfielder but must act quickly if they want to lure Altimira to the banking metropolis.

However, the Hessen club plana to offload players first to save on wages – a situation Leipzig hopes to capitalize on.

Leipzig have already been linked with moves for Celtic's Arne Engels and Ardon Jashari of AC Milan in recent days.

Furthermore, Borussia Mönchengladbach star Rocco Reitz remains top of the Saxony club's wishlist according to other reports.

An offer from Galatasaray – €25 million and a €3million annual salary – was already rejected by the right-footed player.

Altimira is still under contract with Betis until 2029, although it is unlikely that the midfielder will see it through entirely.
