Leverkusen chief gives update on Stanisic's future

Fernando Carro has given an update on the situation regarding Josip Stanisic, whose loan from Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has played down suggestions that Josip Stanisic has made it clear he would rather stay than return to Bayern Munich.

Stanisic's loan deal expires at the end of the season and, as things stand, he will return to his parent club, according to Carro.

"The situation with Josip is that he has a contract with Bayern Munich and as long as nothing changes, I assume he will go back to Bayern Munich," Carro told Bild.

"If he has another wish, he or his management will certainly talk to us. But that's not the case at the moment," Carro said.

Stanisic is contracted to Bayern until 2026 and Leverkusen have no option to sign him permanently.
