Christian Kofane’s future at Bayer Leverkusen remains uncertain, with growing interest from the Premier League continuing to fuel speculation over a possible summer departure.

According to BILD, Newcastle United have been monitoring the highly-rated Cameroonian in recent days, while Arsenal have now also added the lightning-fast 19-year-old to their list of transfer targets. Leverkusen are said to be fully aware of the interest from both clubs.

Speaking publicly about the situation for the first time, Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes sought to play down the speculation.

“We are firmly planning with Kofi.”

Despite that stance, BILD reports that Leverkusen have internally agreed they would be willing to consider a sale if an offer in the region of €100 million were to arrive.

Arsenal’s interest could intensify should either Gabriel Martinelli or Gabriel Jesus leave the club this summer, with Kofane reportedly viewed as their preferred replacement.

Whether Newcastle United would be prepared to meet Leverkusen’s €100 million valuation remains unclear, meaning there is still a considerable gap to bridge before any potential transfer can materialise. As things stand, Kofane looks set to remain at the BayArena unless one of his suitors is willing to meet Bayer’s substantial asking price.
